01
Protect the physical brand
Digital work could not look or behave like a separate licensing exercise. Collection logic, artwork, holder rights and release cadence had to remain recognisably part of the fashion house.
Client engagement
Confidential luxury fashion house
Root Digit designed and delivered a six-month programme that connected a 50-year fashion heritage with verifiable digital ownership, a controlled release model and a younger collector audience.
The problem
An established luxury fashion house needed to reach a younger digital audience and create verifiable digital ownership without weakening the scarcity, visual language or commercial control of its physical brand.
Creative production, smart-contract behaviour, provenance, virtual retail, holder rights and post-launch operations all had to work as one customer proposition rather than a short-lived collectible campaign.
Why it was difficult
These operating and governance conditions determined what a credible solution had to achieve.
01
Digital work could not look or behave like a separate licensing exercise. Collection logic, artwork, holder rights and release cadence had to remain recognisably part of the fashion house.
02
Ownership records had to support provenance and product-authentication workflows without presenting blockchain as a substitute for the brand’s own source records and fulfilment controls.
03
The programme needed to reach crypto-native and digitally fluent customers while preserving the service expectations and exclusivity associated with luxury retail.
04
Royalty rules, holder benefits, community access, marketplace behaviour and support procedures all had to be specified before launch rather than improvised after minting.
The solution
Root Digit designed and delivered a governed digital-collectible programme spanning commercial strategy, a controlled 10,000-piece production system, smart contracts, ownership provenance and virtual retail.
The solution connected approved brand assets, issue and royalty controls, holder benefits, marketplace integration and community access to one launch and operating model.
How we did it
The workstreams below show how the solution was designed, built and controlled.
01
Root Digit mapped the audience, release mechanics, rights model and operating responsibilities before selecting platforms or contract standards. The resulting plan connected each technical decision to a brand or commercial requirement.
02
A controlled generation workflow produced 10,000 distinct digital fashion pieces from approved brand elements and AI-assisted visual variation, with review gates for quality, duplication and brand consistency.
03
The contract layer encoded issuance, ownership, royalty mechanisms and holder benefits. Provenance records connected digital items to the collection source and supported separate authenticity workflows for associated physical products.
04
Root Digit implemented virtual storefront experiences, marketplace integration and gated community access, then supported the multi-channel release across fashion and digital-asset audiences.
System design
01
Approved source assets, generation rules and immutable collection metadata were separated from campaign content so creative updates could not alter the issued record.
02
Issuance and administrative permissions were limited, documented and tested before release, with contract behaviour reviewed against the agreed commercial rights model.
03
The customer journey joined wallet connection, collection discovery, ownership verification and access benefits without requiring the brand’s commerce systems to depend on a marketplace interface.
Delivery sequence
Phase 01
Audience research, programme economics, platform assessment and the rights and responsibilities attached to ownership.
Phase 02
Collection production, metadata, smart-contract implementation, authentication workflow and quality review.
Phase 03
Virtual retail, community access, marketplace integration, support playbooks and release rehearsal.
Phase 04
Multi-channel launch, operational monitoring and programme-period reporting against the agreed commercial measures.
Outcomes and evidence
Programme-period outcomes were supplied through the client engagement record. They are presented as client-reported operating results and have not been independently audited by Root Digit.
Measured across the six-month programme period.
Gen Z and millennial audience recorded by the programme.
Relative to the pre-programme baseline used by the client.
International markets reached during the programme.
Engagement conclusion
The programme treated digital ownership as a governed retail capability—not a one-off campaign. That operating discipline allowed the brand to reach a new collector audience while retaining control over identity, rights and customer experience.
