The problem

What the client needed to solve

Real estate, precious metals and commodities are difficult to divide and trade because ownership, custody, valuation, investor eligibility and settlement are managed through separate systems and legal processes.

Finatrades needed fractional participation from $100 and T+0 transaction processing without separating each digital token from the evidence and controls attached to the underlying asset across more than 15 jurisdictions.

The token could not outrun the asset record

Ownership, valuation, vault or property records and physical-delivery obligations had to remain reconciled with the digital representation. A correct ledger entry was insufficient if the off-chain asset state could not be evidenced.

Rules varied by investor and jurisdiction

Eligibility, accreditation, transfer restrictions and reporting requirements differed across more than 15 countries. Compliance needed to be evaluated at transaction time and supported by reviewable policy records.

Different assets required different operating paths

Real estate involved property entities, valuations and rental distributions; metals required vault verification, price feeds, insurance and physical-delivery logic. They shared a platform but not an identical lifecycle.

Institutional systems still had to connect

Banking APIs, payment providers, KYC/AML services, market data and custody systems could not be replaced. The platform had to coordinate them and maintain an auditable transaction state across integration boundaries.

What Root Digit built

Root Digit built one real-world asset platform for issuance, administration and approved secondary trading across real estate, precious metals and commodities.

Modular security-token contracts, asset-specific operating services, jurisdiction policies and integrations with vaults, property records, banking, identity, market data and custody systems keep each token connected to its underlying asset and investor controls.

Asset issuance framework

Root Digit implemented modular ERC-1400-based contracts and issuance services with asset-class-specific configuration rather than separate platforms. Corporate actions, distributions, voting and transfer rules were handled as governed lifecycle events.

Ledger and document layer

Ethereum provided the primary asset record, Polygon supported higher-frequency interactions, IPFS held referenced documents and Chainlink supplied external data required by asset workflows.

Engagement conclusion

The resulting platform made asset type, investor eligibility and transaction evidence explicit parts of the system. That allowed Finatrades to expand access and shorten settlement without discarding the controls that make the underlying assets defensible.
