Our People
Diversity, equity & inclusion
Sixty-two engineers, scientists, designers, and operators, working from Dubai and Wyoming, building technology that serves customers across four continents. The breadth of perspective in our team is one of the most important assets we steward.
Our principles
We hold ourselves to operating principles, not aspirations. The principles are documented, reviewed annually, and translated into specific policies and metrics that the leadership team is accountable for.
Diversity is a business outcome, not a slogan
We track representation, hiring, retention, and progression at every level. The metrics are reviewed by the executive team quarterly, and material changes are reported to the board.
Inclusion is engineering
Inclusive culture is not the product of statements. It is the product of policies, processes, and decisions that consistently produce inclusive outcomes — and the discipline to redesign them when they do not.
Belonging compounds
When colleagues feel that they belong, they raise issues earlier, share work earlier, and stay longer. The work that goes into belonging is among the highest-leverage investments we make.
Programmes and policies
The specific programmes that translate our principles into outcomes for the people who work here and the communities we operate in.
Inclusive hiring
Structured interviews, diverse interview panels, blind technical screening, and partnerships with women-in-tech and underrepresented-talent communities across the UAE, India, and the United States.
Education and mentorship
Internal mentorship circles, paid study leave, conference sponsorships, and external partnerships including STEM programmes for under-served secondary school students in our headquarters region.
Employee resource groups
Voluntary, employee-led groups for women in engineering, parents, recent graduates, and colleagues from non-traditional backgrounds, each with executive sponsorship and a dedicated programme budget.
Global perspectives
Sixty-two colleagues representing fifteen-plus nationalities working across our Dubai headquarters, US office in Wyoming, and remote team members. Cultural and religious observances are recognised in our policies.
Pay equity and progression
Annual pay equity analysis with documented adjustments, transparent levelling and promotion criteria, and structured career conversations independent of compensation reviews.
Psychological safety
A clear, accessible code of conduct; multiple confidential reporting channels; documented investigation procedures; and zero-tolerance for retaliation. Reported and resolved cases are summarised in our annual people report.
Reporting and accountability
We publish a summary people report annually, covering representation, hiring outcomes, retention, pay equity, and the most important programme changes from the prior year. The report is reviewed and approved by the executive team and shared with our board.
Where we fall short of our commitments, we say so plainly, and we describe the specific changes we are making in response.
Concerns can be raised confidentially through our independent reporting channel, in person with any member of the People team, or anonymously through the third-party hotline available in the employee handbook. All reports are investigated and the outcomes are tracked.
Annual people report
The latest report covers our fiscal year ending December 2025, our first full year of operation as Root Digit.
